Lagoon #172 Update

9:30AM- Members of the Lagoon Committee and several lagoon abutters met with Keith Willis to discuss lagoon maintenance. It was a very informative meeting. Keith suggested, and it was agreed by all in attendance, that he would have his crew selectively cut down the plant growth along the waters edge. Keith is trying to get ahead of the large task of lagoon maintenance. He also plans to stock all of our lagoons with grass carp sometime this fall , approximately 7-to-10 carp per acre of surface area.

We noticed that the large pipe from the curb inlet on Sun City Blvd was at an odd angle and appeared to be either broken or disconnected at the adjoining joint.

10:30AM- While at another lagoon meeting today with Keith, we bumped into Todd Doupona and he reported that the recent survey of lagoon #172 showed that it had not been dredged deep enough, so they were planning to do additional dredging to ensure the proper depth. The pump and excavator that was planned to begin work on L-175 will be temporarily diverted back to L-172 in order to complete the work.
